Privacy policy

Last updated 26 September 2026

This policy explains how Brantow (“we”, “us”) uses personal data on brantow.com (the “site”). Brantow is a drum machine you can play in the browser. An account is only for saving beats you want back later. We process personal data in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Controller: the operator of Brantow. Enquiries: admin@brantow.com.

1. What this site is for

You can play the machine without an account. If you create an account, you can name a beat and open it again later. We collect only what we need to run that.

2. Personal data we collect

Account data. Email address, name, and sign-in identifiers when you register with email, Google, or X.

Saved beats. The name you give a beat, and the pattern, tempo, swing, grit, wobble, and level stored with it. A saved beat does not include audio files.

Payment. If you subscribe, Stripe takes the card payment each month. We do not see or store your card number. We keep a note on the account that it is subscribed, the Stripe subscription id, and the email address Stripe uses for the receipt.

Recordings on your phone. If you load a ride or crash recording, that file stays in this browser. We do not receive it, and it is not sent when you save a beat.

On this device. The browser also remembers the machine (the pads, tempo, and similar settings) so a refresh does not wipe your work. That copy stays on the device until you clear it.

Messages. If you email us, we keep what you send so we can reply.

Technical data. A session cookie so you stay signed in. We do not see or store your card number. Stripe does, if you pay.

3. How we use it

to create and run your account;

to store the beats you ask us to save, and to show them back to you;

to keep the site secure;

to read and reply to an email you send us;

to meet a legal obligation if one arises.

Lawful bases: contract (running the account, the beats you saved, and the subscription if you take it), and legitimate interests (security, and running the site).

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data. We do not share it for advertising. We use processors only to run the site: the platform that hosts the application and database, Stripe if you subscribe, and Google or X if you choose those sign-in methods.

We may disclose data if the law requires it. Hosting may sit outside the United Kingdom. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards those providers use.

5. Cookies

We use an essential cookie (and equivalent storage) so a signed-in session can persist, and so the machine can remember your work on this phone. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not use analytics products that follow you across other sites. If you block essential cookies, sign-in will not work.

6. How long we keep it

Account data and saved beats are kept while your account is in use, and for a reasonable period afterwards if we must resolve a dispute or keep a security record. You may ask us to delete your account and your beats. We will do so unless we must retain a limited record for legal or security reasons. A recording you loaded never reaches us, so deleting it is done on your own device.

7. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you may have the right to access a copy of your data, have inaccurate data corrected, ask for erasure, restriction, or portability, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). Write to admin@brantow.com. We may need to confirm it is you before we act. A shorter account of those rights is on the UK GDPR page.

8. Children

The site is not directed at children under 13. You must be 13 or over to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.

9. Security

Transmission over the internet is never perfectly secure. You are responsible for your password and for any device you leave signed in.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top will change. Continued use of the site after an update means you have read the new version.
