If you are new, start here

A blank row is the slow way. These beats are already lit. You follow them, then you copy them. That is how people learned this kind of machine.

1. Tap a name. It plays. Watch which pads light up, in time with the sound.
2. Leave it alone for a few passes. Point at the kick. Then the snare. Then the hats.
3. Press stop. The pads stay lit. That pattern is now on your machine. You have the copy.
4. Change one pad. Turn one off, or light a new one. Press play. You can hear the difference.
5. Do the next beat the same way. Follow. Copy. Change one thing.

Chain is already on. You hear A, then B, then A, then C. A is the beat. B is quieter. C pushes. D is the fill. Most beats are 16 pads. A few are 32 or 48, marked beside the tempo. If a drum says Loop and a number, it repeats sooner than the others.

You do not need to know the names of the notes. If you can see the pad and hear the hit, you are learning.
